Anyone Missing Teakwoods in Maricopa?

Do you miss Teakwoods in Maricopa, AZ?

I know this isn’t very real estate related but I was just sitting here thinking about when I moved to Maricopa, AZ in 2011.  My sister had already lived here and took my family out to dinner at Teakwoods and we had such a great time.  We threw peanut shells on the floor, ate great food, and had a few drinks.  I was anticipating going there to eat many times in the future in this new town I just moved to.

Relocating to Maricopa from New Jersey was a great move for us, leaving behind the cold winters, high property taxes and high priced old homes in New Jersey.  We started our new lives and I was excited that Maricopa had Teakwoods, Quiznos, Rosati’s Pizza, and Baskin Robbins.  However, not too long after I moved here they all closed.  🙁

Space Age Restaurant in Gila Bend, AZ

Unique Diner Experience Not Far From Phoenix

Aliens!  Flying Saucers!  Oh my!  Located just an hour away from Phoenix in the small town of Gila Bend, Arizona lies a hidden treasure…  A space age themed restaurant that is more like a diner.

image2image1

Gila Bend was founded in 1872, is 22.8 square miles and has a population of about 2000.  It connects to Interstate 8, 85, and 238.  You may have traveled through Gila Bend on your way to San Diego.  I am from the city of Maricopa and had heard about the Space Age Restaurant from a friend so I made the hour drive down 238 to visit.  What I found was truly out of this world!

The menu features Mexican and American dishes and they have a nice salad bar.  There is a gift shop where you can buy some novelties to bring home.  Inside is all space themed with Star Trek and NASA pictures on the walls and saucer shaped lights that hang over the tables.  From the outside you will see a big lit up UFO on the roof and some stellar signs.

Make sure you give this place a try!  Space Age Restaurant Location

Review of Native Grill and Wings in Maricopa, AZ

A Great Place to Eat: Formerly Called Native New Yorker in Maricopa Arizona

Review of Native Grill and Wings in Maricopa, AZ
Native New Yorker is one of my favorite restaurants to visit in Maricopa.  It is located on the corner of John Wayne Parkway and Highway 238 right behind the Circle K in the Bashas shopping center.  I would compare Native New Yorker to a smaller version of TGI Fridays.  Since I grew up on the east coast I can appreciate the pictures on the wall of New York City and the red brick decor.  There are basically three sections: the family oriented restaurant area, the bar in the back separated by glass double doors, and the outdoor patio area.

The atmosphere is fun, laid back, and family oriented.  The bar has many televisions (I counted at least 17 when I visited for lunch today) so it is a great place to watch the games or UFC.  However, my favorite thing to do there is Karoake.  They have Karaoke every Thursday and Saturday evenings.  If you stop by you may catch me singing some Bruce Springsteen, The Killers or John Denver tunes.

What else?

The wings, pizza and hamburgers are delicious but it doesn’t stop there.  They also have a variety of options, including healthy ones.  Make sure to stop by next time you are in Maricopa! You can view their menu here.

In conclusion, to sum up my review of Native Grill and Wings in Maricopa AZ, I would say I love to go to Native Grill and Wings with my family or to take a client out for lunch.  I love the food.  Their wings are always great and it’s not easy to find good wings!  I highly recommend checking out this restaurant or hanging out on a Friday or Saturday night for some fun around the bar.  It’s always a good time.
